Balancing services

Spare parts

Our range of advanced balancing equipment is backed by a comprehensive contract balancing service capable of handling items from a few grams to 10 tonnes.

ionsThe service is ideal for prototype or short batch runs of components up to 6 metres long and 2.1 metres diameter. It also offers a cost-effective alternative to in-house balancing operations - where batch sizes may not justify customers investing in their own equipment - and is equally applicable for medium and high volume applications where accurate dynamic balancing is required within JIT and KanBan manufacturing environments.

Our in-house design team will custom-engineer automatic or semi-automatic balancing equipment to meet specific applications - such as very high speed or low speed operations. In addition, solutions to allow the modular replacement of worn or damaged components - such as turbine blades - are also available to special order.

Hard Bearing Balancing Machines

Hard bearing machines are used extensively for general and precision component balancing applications. The equipment uses force transducers to measure unbalance - providing accurate results independent of rotor mass or inertia. Because hard bearing machines can be permanently calibrated and are capable of handling high out of balance forces, fast and accurate results can be achieved in a single run.

Soft Bearing Balancing Machines

Soft bearing machines are suitable for balancing flexible, as well as rigid or semi-rigid parts and assemblies. They require calibration for each rotor to be measured, but will simultaneously determine the amount and position of unbalance for both correction planes selected. Soft bearing machines also allow measurement throughout a greater operating speed range.

Horizontal Axis Balancing Machines

Most commonly employed on rotors requiring balancing in 2 planes, they are particularly suitable for components that have their own bearing journals, such as crankshafts, armatures or fans.

Vertical Axis Machines

Units can also be fitted with drilling or milling heads - enabling correction to be made ‘on-machine’ in a single operation.
